Session goals

What is your story? What makes you come alive? What are you most passionate about? We want to be a part of it.

The goal of Storytelling sessions is to capture the nitty gritty of what you do as an artist, small business owner, entrepreneur, creative, and overall cool human. This Prep Guide will go over everything you need to know when it comes to prepping for your session so we can dive in together to successfully and creatively tell your story.

Spacial awareness

More than likely, we’ll be headed your way for this session; it’s all about you and your team so we want to be fully engaged with the atmosphere you tell your story in.

Upon arrival, we’d love the opportunity to take a tour of your space and hear about anything specific you are wanting in regards to certain spots, lighting, or restrictions.

From there, we’ll take some time to get set up and prepped before becoming your personal paparazzi.

Things to consider

Because this type of session is so personalized, there is a lot to think about. Here’s a checklist of things to make sure your story is ready to tell.

1. Be yourself.

The best images happen when you don't feel like you have to perform. Our goal is to capture the genuine you how you naturally work, interact, and lead. Being in front of a camera can feel uncomfortable at first, but don't worry. We'll guide you throughout the session so you can relax and focus on what you do best.

2. Let your space tell the story.

Your workplace is part of your story. Don't feel like you need to make everything look perfect just because it's being photographed. A few tools on the workbench, sketches on the wall, or a busy desk can add authenticity and personality. Of course we'll tidy distractions when needed, but we're much more interested in capturing a space that feels real than one that feels staged.

3. Trust the process.

We'll likely suggest a few ideas that are outside your comfort zone and that's often where the best images come from. You're never obligated to do anything that doesn't feel right, but we encourage you to stay open. Sometimes the simplest adjustment in light, location, or pose creates the strongest photograph.

4. Bring variety.

If you have multiple outfits, locations, workspaces, or props that represent what you do, let's use them. A little variety goes a long way toward creating a diverse collection of images that can be used across your website, marketing materials, social media, presentations, and more.

5. Enjoy the experience.

Above all, we want this to be enjoyable. We'll keep things moving, give plenty of direction, and create an environment where you can simply be yourself. By the end of the session, our hope is that you'll not only love your images but also enjoy the process of creating them.
